I DO agree that this is a routine that you need to have the moves down very confidently and natural. Certainly, Sam the Bellhop doesn't include any knuckle busting card slights. However, I've seen enough people become masters at this and other crafts in amazingly short times that I'm convinced that with the right combination of talent, obsession, and practice, some people could master this routine in months, not years. Maybe for many of us, (and maybe for me). Justin, I would respectfully disagree with your assertion that it will take years of practice to perform. Compared to Bill Malone's presentation, I would never reccomend this version. I'm sorry but I was bored to tears watching this and couldn't even make it through the whole thing. I feel that it is a worthy variation that offers some real improvements over Bill's original version.īeing familiar with Bill Malone's version I was interested to take a look at this link you posted. Start with your family, then friends, co-workers and then finally you might be ready for a real world audience. When it all looks “Good”, go out and show the world. Now, when you think you are “Ready”, do it for the video camera. That was a new idea Over the years, he refined it and it became his signature piece. Then practice some more, then some more, then some more, etc.Īfter you think you “Got it” practice in a mirror. Bill learned the Sam the Bellhop story and stack as shown to him by Mike Pappas of Chicago and he immediately added expert blind shuffles and cuts to it, thereby making magic out of an amusing vignette. You can't just jump on your bicycle and ride 100 miles, if you are not in shape. If you don't know what you're doing, why would you think your audience won't notice? I'm not trying to come down on you, but I rather tell you like it is in order to help you.(Not make a fool of yourself) But, one day you will realize what I am saying. You might be offended, upset or just downright disagree with me, at this time. There is nothing worse than performing something that you are not able to do flawlessly! Don't let your (Over)enthusiasm make you do things that you shouldn't. My suggestion is to keep it in the back of your mind, learn card basics, grow with your knowledge then when the time is right You Will Know. I can tell by what you write that you are Not ready to perform this effect. You need to set the deck up first - and it takes a few minutes at the very least. Thats the way it's done, with just a FULL DECK, no extras. Hard to do if I have to carry around the "extras" in Bees, Bikes, Buds, and Puppies! (Well, I AM, but that's not the point! > ) I foresee visiting someone's home, spending a few "quality moments" alone with a deck of THEIR cards, then casually picking them up off the shelf or table and doing a miracle story. A very popular card trick called Sam the bellhop is finally revealed. I figured this one out after seeing it only once. I would think it an easy thing to do by changing Sam's address or age.or the losing poker hands at the end. A very popular card trick called Sam the bellhop is finally revealed. Has anyone seen/done a version of StB that uses all the cards in a full deck-No more, no less?Īll I've seen require a few "extra" cards.
